His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen graced the Sa-lhang Tendrel (Ground breaking and Foundation Laying Ceremony) of the Royal Academy on 26th June 2014. Their Majesties were received by the Board members of the Royal Academy.
Their Majesties offered prayers during the Sa-lhang Tendrel, which consisted of a Sai-Ngoedrup ceremony, followed by Me-chham, Thruel Sey, and Je-syed Meto offerings. The Sa-lhang Tendrel marks the start of construction activities of the Royal Academy and is therefore a momentous occasion for the Royal Academy. To celebrate this day, members of Pangbisa village also took part in the Sa-lhang ceremony and offered – Jha-chhang to Their Majesties.
The Prime Minister, His Excellency the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, members of the cabinet, and government representatives were also present at the ceremony.
